Howdy! On Monday, Kathryn, Emily and I took on Brooklyn!! We started the day at 9am...the earliest I've woken up on a day off!! We took the train to Williamsburg and stopped at THE FAMOUS Bagel Shop. If you've never heard of it, get ready!! It is a bagel shop with the famous "rainbow bagel" (look up the video of how they make it on Youtube). It looks identical to Playdough. It tasted amazing. They paired it with a funfetti (birthday cake tasting) cream cheese. It tasted like a crispy, warm, and delicious desert. I was afraid it wouldn't taste good because it's one of those dishes where the appearance is what you come for. However, I was 100% wrong. It was all kinds of crazy good. The cream cheese selection was amazing as well! From maple bacon, to apple pie, the cream cheeses all looked so good. I wish I could have sampled all off them. I'm talking like red velvet cake cream cheese, blueberry cream cheese, buffalo chicken cream cheese, and so many more. Ahhhh calories :) Oh, Williamsburg is also a super trendy up and coming place to be. I loved it. It isn't so "city" and feels more like a suburb. It reminded me a lot of downtown Worthington...(without the grafiti).
After that, we took another train to the Brooklyn Bridge!! It was stunning! I have always wanted to go here. It really is as architecturally exquisite as the pictures. We walked that, then walked down to the water on the Manhattan side. Not too much to write about, but the pictures speak for themselves. I also wrote on top of the bridge my anniversary with John, and a shoutout to my Mom. Pictures below. Oh, and just a tip: Don't be one of those people who ride their bikes like crazy people and ring their bike bells at you because you are in the "bike lane", but you don't have an option because so many people are on the bridge, and your walking lane is overflowing.... just a tip. You're welcome.
That night, us Kent girls took the Staten Island Ferry, and looked out over the city and Statue of Libery at night. I honestly got goosebumps staring at the statue at night. I thought about being an immigrant and coming into the city at night, and the statue being the first thing that greeted me. The skyline, Freedom Tower, bridges and lights were breath taking. Pictures do not even touch the beauty of the city at night. The ferry is free, and this is a MUST when visiting NYC. We got in late, but it was worth it. I will never forget the view of NYC at night, and this amazing summer so far.
I have gotten a few requests to talk more about Kleinfeld!! On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we are significantly less busy compared to the weekends. With that being said, the interns are put in other departments to get a more well rounded experience, (i.e. marketing, operations, front desk, client services, stock, etc). Tuesday, I was in marketing and PR. It was refreshing because this department really connects with my area of study. My duty was to upload pictures of new inventory to the website (making sure the pictures were of high quality), and then had to manually add in the dress description, (i.e. fabric type, neckline, train, manufacture number, serial number, cost and designer). I got to log on as an administrator and actually get “behind the website”. I also had to ensure that my work was 100% accurate because I had to publish my work live to the website. I worked with Janette (head of marketing for Kleinfeld) and her intern, Monica. It was amazing!! I love computer work like that and typing numbers into the computer, (sounds lame but I do lol). I really enjoyed my time doing that.

client services today. What a difficult place to be!! All day, calls were coming and going dealing with people’s personal problems/concerns about their dress. I was placed with the Director of the department, Bridget Martin. It is a fine tuned machine in that office. The girls in the department are beyond talented. Bridget explained to me how many people curse, scream and take their frustration out directly on her. The behind the scenes of such a glamorous tv show/ industry isn’t very pretty. Some of the stories I heard were just gutting. An example? A bride ordered a dress with straps. Ok great. The dress comes to her house. Are there straps? Nope. SO even though it might have been the manufacture's problem, it now turns into our problem. People also don't just want the straps. They want discounts, and perks for the "trouble". People seriously continue to amaze me everyday. Today showed the true character of some people. A bride called today for a dress that she may want to order for her 2018....yes 2018 wedding. WHAT?!?!!? Between ordering the dress at Kleinfeld, it being made wherever in the world it is produced, then being shipped back to the U.S., and then being shipped to the bride's house, there are GOING TO BE KINKS!!! People just need to realize that and be understanding!! It makes me sad these girls have to be yelled at all day dealing with problems that sometimes aren't even "problems" at all. I could never do that job. I'm far too sensitive. I would cry no questions asked. The best part about today? They let me go at 5 :)
I also just bought my ticket to visit John in Massachusetts via the Megabus! I AM SO EXCITED I CANNOT CONTAIN IT!!!! It's coming on a month of not seeing him. That's not even a long time, yet it feels like ages. We are best friends, so not being with him like I am at school is definitely a change. Nonetheless, I'm coming for ya Eastham! Of course, I'll bring you all along with me.
