Central Park

Soo one thing that is very clear about living in NYC: YOU HAVE NO TIME TO DO ANYTHING BECAUSE THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO!!! Though my off day was yesterday, I simply ran out of hours in a day and forgot to blog. So this post is about my off day yesterday (Wednesday)...even though probably by the time I am done writing this, it will be two days ago. Here we go!

Resting my feet from my first official day at work was BLISSFUL! I decided to spend the day with my new intern-friend Kathryn from Manhattan, Kansas (ironic). We walked to Central Park and spent the day there! The pictures are posted below. Central Park is truly special. In the middle of skyscrapers, there is so much scenic greenery. It is truly something amazing. If I was visiting NYC, I would recommend dedicating at least half a day exploring what the whole park has to offer. Kathryn and I got to see the Bow Bridge (featured on Home Alone and Elf), the Cherry Hill Fountain (a replica of the TV show Friends fountain in the opening scenes, we walked to the row boats on the water where we saw someone get proposed to (magnificent), and hiked a little bit through the middle of the park in the real greenery. After the park, we walked to Pret (my go to) for an amazing lunch. Pret serves fresh, healthy sandwiches that are fast and cheap (and healthy). I got an avocado-corn salsa wrap. Kathryn and I also stopped in the lobby to bum some air continuing at the Museum of Natural History. We want to go back and properly tour the place (I've been there and it's amazing), but we were honestly too tired. SO began the walk ALLLLLL the way back to my place.

After I got home, I met up with some Kent friends / sorority sisters who also are interning here for the summer here in NYC. They also live in my building (we didn't plan it)! We ate at a little Mexican place in Chelsea named El Cantinero. The atmosphere was amazing. The outdoor patio was beyond romantic, and the prices weren't too heavy! Pictures are posted below. We had a great time. Being in the city with familiar friends is something so awesome. It only adds to my experience.

We also visited the Chelsea Market! I am in LOVE with this place!! Talk about up my alley! There are a bunch of shops that have farmer's market type stuff, and crafts galore! Everything is quality. It is a great place to find the most unique stuff. I am going to go back there when I have more time to really explore. Hunger trumped the Chelsea Market and we kind of left shortly after we got there. It is beautiful (it's worth a Google).

In all, on my day off, I walked about 21 miles. From Central Park, then walking around the park, walking back, and then the walk to the restaurant, I DEF got my steps in. So an off day didn't really turn into an off day! However, I had the most amazing time hanging out with my friends and exploring the city I already love so much. More to come tomorrow about tonight's dinner, and the Pnina Tornai trunk show hosted at Kleinfeld! See you then (aka tomorrow)!!!

XOXOX
