My first, official day!!

Well, I can say that I officially survived my very first day as a Kleinfeld intern!! A million thoughts are racing through my head, so let's just start at the beginning...

Saying goodbye to my Mom and Uncle as they watched me walk into Kleinfeld's was tough. Once I entered the doors and saw the great big, "Kleinfeld" sign at the front desk, I knew all was going to be okay. All of the interns met with the Director of Sales, (Joan) in the morning. There, we got a list of do's and don'ts and had a quick meeting. One of the don'ts was, "ABSOLUTELY NO BLOGGING". My heart was crushed. I started this blog to keep everyone informed on my NYC adventure! There's no way my life as a blogger could already be over!!?!?! After talking to the girl in charge or social media, I realized that I was indeed allowed to blog if I,

1. Do not post any specific pictures of dresses, (or be detailed about anything in general)

and

2. Do not use any details or names of brides / clients / appointments (duh)

With these in mind, I am still allowed to do my blog!! YAY!!

Each intern is paired with a bridal consultant for the day. We get to switch so that everyone gets chance to work with everyone. I had 3 appointments with my consultant today! It was amazing to talk to each bride, hear her story, learn about the venues (HOLY MOLY SOME PEOPLE HAVE IT GOING ON), and listen as to how she fell in love with the man of her dreams <3 (Made me miss John way too much).

The dresses are honestly that from a dream. Though some are...unique..., others are ready to go home with me for when I get married!! From beading and lacing, to satin and silk, every dress had a special feel. The selection is ridiculous. There is "Plain Jane" to "Want some dress with that Bling?". Dresses are so subjective. It may not be what you like, (kind of like a haircut) but it might be someone else's dream vision. As I witnessed today, as long as the bride feels special, elegant, comfortable and CONFIDENT in her dress, she should take it home no questions asked. The look of joy that fills a bride's face after she finds her dress is something truly special. So much hard work and time goes into finding a dress that will be shown in photo albums for generations and generations to come. I feel a bride can actually breathe when her dress search is over. Being part of that experience is something truly rewarding.

Here is the part I AM allowed to go into detail about... L U N C H!! My consultant and I ate at a place called Essen. It was a magical, magical place. It consisted of a hot bar and a cold bar. On the cold side, there was almost any fruit imaginable. HUGE pieces of mango, blackberries, blueberries, you name it. I filled up on pesto pasta salad, a small sandwich, guacamole (random but I don't regret it), mango, and another type of pasta salad. At $9.49 (I think) a pound, it is super reasonable. I swear this place had everything. There was a full fish, next to mashed potatoes, next to fried rice, next to bean soup, next to chicken, etc. All so random (maybe that's why I related so well). It was a good decision on my part, (See Mom? I AM making good choices).

After a wrap up meeting with the owner of Kleinfeld (what an absolute GEM), the majority of us interns ended the night at KOMO Sushi. Again, my decision of spicy, crunchy tuna was a good one (my computer autocorrected "tuna" to "tina" and I'm still laughing). Spicy, crunchy Tina. Super reasonably priced, and located in the CUTEST part of Greenwich Village, I will definitely eat here again.

Though my feet are tired, and back is literally burning, I would not trade my first day for anything. Being in the Kleinfeld atmosphere is addicting enough, let alone pulling dresses and being part of the process. Everyone is beyond kind, and more than willing to answer any questions you may have. Tomorrow is an off day, so another post is to come about my adventure. Until next time! Thank you all for the support. It means a lot from a couple states away.

XOXOX
